I'm in the process of buying my first car, and earlier today I saw an impreza wagon locally that was definitely NP and so I wanted to go see it, but since my mother was out with my aunt and I was at home watching the dog I was going to wait to show her until she got home, well when I went to go find the ad, (it was posted yesterday (August 3rd because it's still the 4th of August where I live) it was removed. I since haven't found anything locally as good on craigslist, if you guys would be willing to help that would be awesome

I need something to be able to work in the snow, get decent gas mileage (doesn't have to be great, just as best as possible), be able to able to haul stuff because my main form of income is mowing lawns and yard work. And be relatively mechanically sound.

It also must be an automatic (that's the only total requirement that I can not cross at all, it's not my choice, it's my mothers stipulation and she won't budge)

Out of mine the most important is being able to move stuff.

EDIT: I forgot to put my local craigslist which is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and my budget which is about $2000 at the complete maximum.

It just so happens that on the first page of your CL for under $2000 is my favorite of all the cheap vans/SUVs: the Mazda MPV 4x4. MPG is okay, but not great. It is AWD with added ground clearance, so yeah, it will go through snow. The driving position is very good, with excellent visibility, armrests on both sides, and a surpassingly comfortable seat. It is very reliable, and the interior is large and versatile, with the back seats able to be folded up and, if memory serves me correctly, removed. It is also pretty rare, and fairly cool. I would highly recommend taking a look.

Don't know what your mileage limit or pickiness level is, but http://pullman.craigslist.org/cto/4585846041… . On a side note, you kinda need this even if it is a manual: http://pullman.craigslist.org/cto/4600530759… . It's brown, 4wd, diesel, and manual. It's almost full Jalop.

As long as it's mechanically sound, I don't really care very much, I could do a tranny and engine swap on the truck into the subaru and make it full jalop which would be EPIC,

All I heard was "I need a Chevy Blazer or GMC Jimmy"

The only place where they fall a little flat is gas mileage. But if you stay out of it, It'll get decent MPGs.

I was looking at a jimmy at a used dealership about 20 miles from where I lived, and it was really nice, but we went by about 2 weeks after that, and it was gone. I really like that jimmy, but it was over my budget by about $1100

It's a Toyota, so it'll probably last a long time, I don't know if it's still for sale, We have 2 major universities in the area, and so this person could have moved, but I should look when I go driving tomorrow morning to see if it is still at that address.

After looking at it, I really do like it, I'm not a fan of minivans normally, but you can fit a lot of stuff in them, and even in spite of that, I actually like the body shape of it, it doesn't have such a long hood on it that most minivans do which is what I don't like about them, especially like the pontiac montana or ford aerostar. I better call this dude.

Do it. That MPV seems just about perfect for what you want out of a vehicle, with the possible exception of gas mileage.

WHY AGAIN, if you open the craigslist ad, it's now been deleted, next time I find something I really like, I'm going to contact them that minute, and write down the name of the people and their phone number.

hey dwhite, thanks for the suggestion, I'm most likely going to be buying the mercury mountaineer that you suggested, it's only about 4 blocks from where I live, I'm not getting it before Monday because the guy is having the fuel pump changed on Monday, he wouldn't budge on the price which I understand becuase he spent 160 bucks on a fuel pump and he is going to pay his mechanic about 120 bucks to change it, but I'll think I can come up with the other money fairly easily, it was pretty solid overall, and it's getting about 20 mpg which is pretty good for basically a 2000 ford explorer.

Totally unrelated, but do you really like corgis?
